In Ontario
- In 2005, it was estimated that about 25,000 people in Ontario were living with HIV. Of this number, about 14% are people from Africa and the Caribbean.i
- Unprotected sex is the leading mode of transmission of HIV within our African and Caribbean communities. ii
- People from Africa and the Caribbean made up 16.2% of all new HIV diagnoses in Ontario in 2007.iii
